I’ve said it many times before – first to the mobile phone wins. I would certainly place my last Swedish kronors in the company that come up with a music streaming application or web site that works equally good on a computer and a mobile phone.

Recent reports make my presumption even more vigorous. Now over 50 percent of the worlds population have a mobile phone. That is 3,3 billion people carrying around a potential music player in their pockets. That’s a market! At the same time good points are being made on that many peoples first contact with the internet actually is via a mobile phone and not the western way of a PC. And in Japan it’s getting close to 50/50 situation of web access via mobile phones and PCs.

There are some exciting developing going on to make the mobile phone a streaming music device. Adobe is working on their Flash lite 3 application that will make Youtube work which probably also make music sites with Flash players, like Deezer, work perfectly fine. The iPhone is already having a Yotube application. Orb let’s you stream the media you got on your computer at home to your mobile phone. Seeqpod has a mobile version for PDA’s. And so on. The direction of the future is easy to unveil – but the scrumptious details is still somewhere in the foggy inland, yet to be explored.

Again, this is huge opportunity for the music business. The first music carrier in history that is accessible wherever you are whenever you want is being developed. If you are a music label executive please don’t think about business models, hump the train and get ready for the ride you’ll never forget.

If your content is good — you will get paid. Don’t worry.

This, my friends, is 360 degree music. It’s not about doing everything (merch, tours etc) well. It’s about doing music amazingly good and doing it everywhere around the globe without borders, territories, scarcity and discrimination. Boundless 360 degrees of music waves!
